Action Plan

Our Action Plan
As advocates for the nearly one million annual Moms in the Middle, or uninsured pregnant women who do not have employer-provided maternity insurance and cannot afford to purchase private insurance yet make too much to qualify for state-sponsored welfare programs, we are working tirelessly to:

  • Establish a collective voice for uninsured pregnant women
  • Support uninsured pregnant women by negotiating fair maternity care billing
  • Locate qualified physicians and hospitals that treat pregnant women with dignity and respect their rights
  • Award scholarships to uninsured pregnant women to help with maternity-related expenses
  • Educate Moms in the Middle on all of the options and resources available to facilitate affordable pregnancy and childbirth
  • Advocate for the rights of pregnant women to U.S. Congress, state legislators, and the medical and insurance industries

In addition to these continued efforts, recent projects include:

  • Dispelling myths and exposing sources of biased misinformation propagated on the Internet
  • Developing an Internet resource center that:

            a)  Presents accurate, unbiased information that presents all medically-accepted birthing options

            b)  Clearly defines steps pregnant women can take to secure finances and protect credit

            c)  Serves as a springboard for media collaboration

            d)  Helps pregnant women make informed choices that are in their best health and fiscal interests

  • Offset medical bills
  • Negotiate reduced billing terms
  • Retain homes/residence
  • Offset unpaid maternity leave expenses
  • Give newborns and mothers a healthy start

You have the power to secure fair and equitable treatment for all pregnant women, but only if you take action.  Apathy is degenerative; activism is constructive.  Put your individual rights as an American citizen to work to protect the rights off all Americans.
